Dr. Nicole Wesley

Dear Sea Hawk Students and Parents,

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as your new principal.  While I am new to this position at RUHS, I am not new to the school. I am excited about rejoining the Redondo Union High School Sea Hawk team.

For those of you who do not know me, I will briefly share my background in education.  For the last three years I served as principal at Adams Middle School (AMS), one of our two feeder middle schools.  Prior to AMS, I was a member of RUHS’ leadership team for four years as an assistant principal.  I began my administrative experience as an assistant principal at Gardena High School in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD).  My passion for education began at the age of 22 with my first teaching assignment at a middle school in LAUSD.

Redondo Union High School has a strong tradition in academic and scholastic excellence.  I plan to continue that excellence as I work with our staff on ensuring all students are met with enriching, engaging and relevant standards-based curriculum that will prepare them for success at RUHS and beyond.  When Redondo Union High School was established in 1901, its original motto was Everyone is Expected to Learn.  That expectation lives on, and I am proud to be the principal of such a devoted staff that will continue to provide and create innovative and challenging educational programs for all students.

The foundation for student success is based on a partnership between students, staff and parents.  Active parent participation is very important, even in high school!  Parents and guardians are encouraged to check their student’s progress regularly on our parent portal, which can be accessed from our school website.

Students, high school is a time to discover yourself as you explore your interests and make post-secondary plans.  My hope is that you leave RUHS intrinsically motivated, thirsty for more knowledge and able to advocate for yourself as you navigate through a world rich with priceless experiences.  Take advantage of every opportunity – ask for help, join a club or team, volunteer, participate both in and out of the classroom.

I look forward to meeting you.

Go Sea Hawks!
