Seal of Biliteracy

The California State Seal of Biliteracy recognizes high school graduates who have achieved a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English. Students who meet the requirements will receive a seal on their diploma and a recognition pin.
If you have demonstrated strong literacy and fluency in another language, you may qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy. Graduating seniors must meet both the California State Seal of Biliteracy and RBUSD requirements. You can find more information on the RUHS website about the Seal of Biliteracy.
Students must complete four consecutive years of the same World Language. If you took community college language classes, you must complete at least Level 3 (as indicated in the course title). You will also need to upload your community college transcript for verification. A minimum GPA of 3.0 in your World Language classes is required.
If you believe you qualify and would like to apply for the State Seal of Biliteracy, please complete the survey.
All applications are due by Monday, April 6, 2026.
