Welcome!
I am Ms. Jessica Parmar, a Special Education Teacher within the moderate-to-severe disabilities program here at Redondo Union High School. I am currently in my 2nd year of teaching at RUHS, and was inspired to teach because of how influential educators have been for me growing up. I was raised in poverty, and among family members impacted by disability and mental illness. Studies support that it is likely I would not graduate from high school, let alone successfully earn degrees from college. Yet, all of my teachers saw something in me, and were my biggest cheerleaders. They opened my world. Now, I have developed a passion to teach students with disabilities and of all backgrounds. I have worked with students with disabilities for 3 years in Manhattan Beach schools, and 3 years in Northern California schools. I'm looking forward to the 2017-2018 school year with my fantastic students!

Here at RUHS, I teach the Essential Skills classes, which incorporates all core subject areas with an emphasis on functional academics, life skills, and community-based-instruction. I strive for my students to feel supported, inspired, and learn skills they can apply to their every-day lives.
