Adapt — Evolve Together
This year’s focus is to adapt. With AI and new technologies reshaping how we teach and how students learn, our edge will be staying flexible, resilient, curious, agile, and creative. As Stephen Hawking reminded us, “Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change.”
How we’ll adapt together at RUHS
- Plan → Pivot → Progress: Plan with options, pivot when needed, and keep learning progressing.
- Learn out loud: During Monday Collaboration time, share quick wins and redos. One idea is to rotate a 5-minute demo (strategy, tool, or AI use case) each month.
- Co-design assessments: Pair up to create AI-resistant (process, oral, performance) and AI-enhanced (draft/feedback) assessments.
- See each other teach (Sea Hawk Peek): Schedule peer pop-ins or mini-rounds with a single look-for (e.g., checks for understanding). Reach out to your administrator, we will provide subs.
- Center student voice: Use quick pulse checks and exit tickets to guide next steps; invite student panels to Monday collaboration once a quarter/semester.
- Use AI with integrity: Teach when AI helps (brainstorming, accessibility, feedback) and when it doesn’t; model citation and guardrails.
- Share the load: Post templates, rubrics, and exemplars to a shared Google folder; don’t reinvent what a colleague has already developed.
We have great instincts and proven routines. When the landscape changes, our advantage is how quickly we adapt—together. Let’s model lifelong learning for our students and for one another.
Key Update: New Bell Schedule
RUHS will follow a new bell schedule this year, with updated start/end times and a revised advisement period (RUHS Time). Please review the schedule in advance so you are ready for Day 1. Here is the new Bell Schedule and a color-coded calendar with all of the dates. They will also be posted on our staff website.
Here’s to a year of experimentation, reflection, and growth—keeping students at the center and choosing what works now.
Go Sea Hawks!
