Project Lead The Way at RUHS
PLTW stands for Project Lead The Way. PLTW pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science engage students in hands-on activities, projects, and problems; empower them to solve real-world challenges; and inspire them to re-imagine how they see themselves.
PLTW is a national program started in 1997 to foster education in STEM fields. It creates curriculum for grades K through 12 and provides extensive teacher training to implement that curriculum. PLTW is for all students! The design of the courses is intended to engage students that thrive with a hands-on approach to learning through experience.

At RUHS, we have 7 PLTW certified courses, four in Biomedical Science and three in Engineering.
In addition, we have 2 courses from PLTW Computer Science which are not yet certified but are also part of the AP program.
Earn a STEM Seal at graduation
Students can earn a STEM Seal on their diplomas at graduation for having competed 3 courses within a PLTW pathway with a B or better. In addition, RUHS students can follow an Environmental Sciences pathway that is not sponsored by PLTW.
