Laurie Laura Hamm » Welcome to Algebra 1 and Geometry with Mrs. Hamm! Room 313

Welcome to Algebra 1 and Geometry with Mrs. Hamm! Room 313

This year the RUHS math department will continue its implementation of the Common Core State Standards guided by the 8 mathematical practices for Algebra 1 and Geometry.

Geometry will explore the language and logic of Geometry through the study of angles, polygons, and various other shapes. There will be extensive development and use of deductive reasoning. The writing of logical and convincing “proof arguments” is a major objective the first semester of the course. The second semester we will emphasize problem-solving skills, critical thinking and applying formulas to the process of logical reasoning.

Major topics included in Algebra 1 will be solving linear equations & inequalities, graphing & writing linear functions, solving systems of equations & inequalities, exponential functions, polynomial functions, graphing & solving quadratic equations, and data analysis & regression.
All assignments and announcements will be posted in Schoology and accessed through student's portals.

Keep in mind we offer free tutoring!
