my family

Top 5 Personal

  • I’ve been teaching at RUHS for 20 years, and still believe I have the best job and work at the best place ever!
  • Although I have told my kids they will be attending UCLA (to save money!)  like their grandparents, my wife and I are USC Trojans!  “Fight On!” ✌️
  • USC Business School for undergrad and Masters in Teaching from Chapman University
  • I was raised in Fullerton, CA and was the only Asian dude on my high school basketball team 😆
  • My wife and I love to take vacations in Mammoth and ride the slopes, or go for a relaxing camping trip.

Top 5 Professional

  • I love teaching because I love helping students become more caring, loving, responsible, gracious, considerate, accepting, hard-working, self-driven, intelligent individuals that can use these traits to make the world a better place.
  • I love teaching business and personal finance because I believe it can help every person in this world and should be taught to every person in school!
  • I love my students because I accept them the same way I accept my own kids… I communicate to them with grace and understanding, and I care just as much about their life outside of the classroom as inside the classroom.
  • I try to make every student feel like they are part of an extended family when they come to my class and help them get to know everyone around them.  Part of school is developing friendships.  That happens in this class.
  • I love teaching because I love being able to be a part of your child’s life and get to see their awesome personalities everyday.  Thinking of their potential in the business world one day just makes it all worth it. It really makes me excited to come to work everyday.

Top 5 Class-Related

  • All grades are updated on Schoology so please do not refer to PowerSchool.  For parents that want to see your student’s progress and current assignments, I highly recommend getting access from the school to your student’s Schoology account.  This is the perfect place to see all assignments, due dates, grades, and completion of work.
  • I’m a big fan that some of the best learning happens with good teamwork, so all assessments are collaborative in this class.  The other major grade is the business portfolio, which is a culmination of various topics like our “Top 10 Tips” Google slides or our case study results. Each slide is worth 200 points.  Have your student show you their slides and check my student example to see if your child’s slides match up with this one: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1p3KsD9Ai-Xm2tcrqmcTnLn0m-DoffDzzVfSkFGBGbg4/edit?usp=sharing

Slides are assigned daily but will be checked by each quarter to count for Quarter and Semester Benchmark assessment grades.

Last words…

In this class, students can’t just come and go like a ghost.  Students will be challenged to put themselves out there and be ready to be engaged.  This is not a boring, long lecture-style kind of class; but rather a place where dialogue is a two way street and all ideas and opinions are welcome. This is a hands-on highly communicative class that supports real-world applications and fosters teamwork and friendships.  When students come to this class, I want them to look forward to it because they know they have a teacher that appreciates them, a community they feel safe in, and an environment where learning is possible and worth it. If all of this happens, you now know why I have THE BEST JOB EVER.
