RUHS COUNSELING TEAM ROCKS!

Shout out to the RUHS Counseling team who have spent the last few weeks meeting individually with every Sea Hawk student to select courses for the upcoming year, check on academic progress, and address any questions or concerns. Meetings will continue through the months of March and April. Please check out the counseling website for more information on course selection for 2022-23. Here are some great photos catching them in action. 

GOLF UPDATE:

The Varsity Boys' golf team defeated Torrance in a non-league match at Los Verdes, 214-229. While senior Bradley Yamamoto's 41 was the low round of the match, junior Aidan Tseng's hole-out eagle two from 130 yards on the Par 4 eighth hole was the highlight!

CSF INFORMATION:

CSF (California Scholarship Federation)

The CSF window will be open until Monday, 3/14. Applications are available in room 706 or online on the CSF Google classroom (code qm6axo6). Students should join the Google classroom to get all the announcements. Bring your report card or a copy of it (no transcripts), as well as your completed application, to room 706 at lunch for stamping (on the mini block days, stamping will instead be available directly after school for 20 minutes). Stamped applications and $5 should be turned in to the ASB office no later than Monday 3/14. No late applications accepted. 

Freshmen can apply now that they have RUHS grades. Seniors, remember that you must have at least one semester of senior grades out of the four semesters (10th-12th) required for Seal Bearer, so don't miss this application window. 

UCLA BLOOD DRIVE:

The UCLA Blood Drive is taking place on Wednesday, March 23rd in the small gym from 7:30 am - 11:30 am. Sign up with any ASB Member or fill out the google form linked in your student email. Donors must be at least 16 years old to donate, and parental consent is required for 16 year old's only. Make sure to sign up by Wednesday, March 16th. All Eligible Blood Donors will receive a Movie Ticket! Sign up here.

ATTENTION SENIORS: 

Attention Seniors: This year's Senior Excursion will take place on Wednesday, May 25th at Disneyland. Make sure to purchase your tickets at the same time as your friends so that you can all ride on the same bus. The early bird special is $150 with a senior sticker, and $160 without. Permission slips need to be submitted in order to purchase a ticket. These can be found in your Government/Economics classes. There are NO refunds once tickets have been purchased. 

BSU- Black Student Union:

BSU is a safe place for students to feel connected and develop a support system with students of color at RUHS. Our student leader is Reiss Collier and our staff leader is assistant principal Marvin Brown. We will be meeting at the top of the Student Union every other Thursday during lunch, starting February 3rd. All Sea Hawks are welcome. We look forward to seeing you soon!

SOCAL ROC

Your SoCal ROC career guidance specialist is available to answer any questions in the Nest every Thursday during 2nd period and snack. Add your name to the sign up sheet in the Nest to meet with her ASAP!

HIPHOP CLUB:

Interested in Performing during rallies? Then Hiphop is the place for you. They’re currently looking for dancers to perform in the spring rally. You do not have to be experienced at all. SPEECH AND DEBATE CLUB:

Do you have a passion for debating? Do you want to sharpen up your speech skills? Then the speech and debate club is the right place for you! At Speech and Debate club, we perform activities that not only help improve speech writing skills, but also improve your confidence, debating skills, and much more. Speech and Debate club meets Mondays during lunch in room 802. Be sure to stop by!

MATH TUTORING:

Are you confused during math class? Is there a homework problem that you can't figure out? Head on down to the math tutoring club in room 313 every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch. You will receive personalized, 1-on-1 help from your peers, absolutely free. We can provide you alternate pathways to answers that your teachers don't teach you during class. Sea Hawks, if you want to help your peers improve their math abilities and earn community service hours, you can become a tutor by coming to one of our club meetings.

CHEMISTRY TUTORING:

Do you need help with your chemistry homework or preparing for an exam? Head on down to the Chem tutoring club in room 122 every Tuesday and Friday during lunch. You will receive personalized, one-on-one help from your peers, absolutely free. All students are welcome.

BIOLOGY TUTORING:

Biology peer tutoring will be available to all levels on Tuesdays, in Mrs. Frames' room (room 126), after school from 3:00 to 3:30.  We’re also looking for current or former AP Biology students to be tutors, so if you feel confident and are interested in peer tutoring for service hours, please come to Mrs. Frame’s room after school on Tuesday September 21st  for the first meeting. Sea Hawks, we see you, we hear you, we are listening.  Please do your respectful part by keeping yourself and those around you safe.  It is our collective effort to keep our learning environment comfortable and safe for all Sea Hawks.

  • Wear a mask when on campus (this remains an LACDPH requirement for indoors). Also, recommended when outdoors. Need a mask?  They are available in the Health Office.
  • Maintain distance from others
  • Frequently wash/sanitize your hands; especially before and after eating
  • Actively answer the questions when passively screening before coming to campus
  • Contact school personnel immediately (attendance office) upon COVID-19 symptoms, exposure, and/or positive test(s).

LIBRARY PRINTING:

The library staff will print your assignments for $.10 per page. Purchase a printing punch card for $1.00 and receive 11 pages or supply your own white paper. 

SCHOOL BREAKFAST & LUNCH:

Free breakfast and lunch meals will be available for all students, each day in the Student Union and at the two pods. A la carte snacks and drinks will be available for purchase outside at the snack windows. Students must have their student ID with them to scan for the cashier when receiving free meals or purchasing snack items. Cash payments will no longer be accepted.
