RUHS THEATRE ARTS:

Enjoy acting and performing? Love improv comedy? Or maybe you’re more of an artist, builder, or technician? It’s time to get ready for auditions and interviews for our Winter Mainstage Play: She Kills Monsters and our Comedy Sportz competitive improv league team! RUHS Theatre Arts will be holding an informational meeting at 3:45 pm on Wednesday September 7th in the Auditorium. BEACH CITIES HEALTH DISTRICT:

Beach Cities Health District (BCHD) is seeking middle and high school students (grades 8-12) who are passionate about their peers' health and wellness to serve on the Youth Advisory Council. The Youth Advisory Council is a youth-led committee focusing on the health and needs of their Beach Cities peers. As a Youth Advisory Council member, students will promote students' health and wellbeing in the Beach Cities. Student applicants must live in or attend a middle or high school in the following Beach Cities: Redondo Beach, Manhattan Beach, and Hermosa Beach. The application will open on August 9, 2021. Students must submit applications by Sunday, August 28, 2022 by 6 p.m. via smartsheet link to be considered for our Youth Advisory Council. MATH TUTORING:

Do you feel like your brain can't FUNCTION when it comes to math? FACTOR math tutoring into your day! We can be the extra VARIABLE you need to succeed. Join Math Tutoring Club on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch in room 313! Tutors and tutees welcome.

CSF ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The CSF (California Scholarship Federation) honor roll registration window will open on Monday, September 12th and be open through Friday, September 23rd. Students in grades 10 through 12 who qualify and want to join should fill out an application and bring it, along with their June report card, to be stamped in room 706 at lunch only. Students will then take the stamped application to the ASB finance office, along with $5, to complete their registration. The window will close on Friday, September 23rd, and late applications will not be accepted. 

The Google Classroom code for this year’s CSF page is dstajyp. Interested students should join there, as information will be pushed out from there first. More information about how to qualify will be available there as well. You can also check out the CSF page on the RUHS website:

Freshmen will need to wait to apply until February, when they have an RUHS report card, but they may join the Google Classroom now

COMEDY SPORTZ:

Do you like comedy? Do you like sports? Do you wish you could perform comedy in the style of sports? Well if so, do I have news for you! Our very own ComedySportz team is holding auditions on Friday, September 16th, and anyone is welcome to try out. All you have to do is sign up using the link on the Google Classroom, code Lju756t. And don't worry, this is the one sports team where you want people to laugh at you, so don't be afraid to come on down and try out!

SHE KILLS MONSTERS:

Calling all you Stranger Things, D & D and fantasy fans! RUHS Theatre Arts will be holding auditions and technical interviews for the Winter Play – She Kills Monsters, a hilarious high-energy action comedy! Interviews for technical crew will be held September 19th, and Auditions will be held September 20th for actors. For more information, please check out our Google Classroom Page, code Lju756t. JUNIOR SEA HAWK CHEER CLINIC:

The RUHS Cheer Squad invites students K-6th to attend the Junior Sea Hawk Cheer Clinic. The cheer clinic will include two days of training to learn cheers and a dance to perform at halftime during the Varsity football game on September 16th.  

Schedule:

Wednesday, September 14th , Thursday, September 15th and Friday, September 16th. See the registration form for more details about check in times.

Sea Hawk Bowl (Football field)

Registration, payment, and waivers can be dropped off to the RUHS front office with the name, Emily Byars, or RUHS Cheer written on the envelope.

FREE SAT FOR SENIORS:

Seniors, would you like to take the SAT for free? RBEF is funding a free SAT on Wednesday, October 12 at RUHS. If you have not taken the SAT, or already have taken the SAT but want a chance to improve your score, please take advantage of this free opportunity thanks to the generosity of RBEF. If you would like to opt in for this SAT test date, please fill out the SAT Opt-In Form by 5:00 pm on Monday, September 12.

  5. Contact school personnel immediately (attendance office) upon COVID-19 symptoms, exposure, and/or positive test(s).
