COMMUNITY EVENTS

8/23/25 SERVICE ACADEMY DAY HOSTED BY THE OFFICE OF CONGRESSMAN TED LIEU

The Office of Congressman Ted Lieu invites you to attend the Congressman’s Annual Service Academy Day, where you can learn about service academy nominations.

These nominations offer students a chance to be considered for a world-class, tuition-free education at one of the nation’s five service academies. Students benefit from rigorous academic training in science, engineering, and other fields, while also gaining practical experience and preparing for long-term careers in military service.

As the U.S. Representative for California’s 36th District, Congressman Lieu has the honor of nominating qualified candidates from our district to each academy.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, at the Da Vinci Schools in El Segundo, CA. Ample free parking will be provided. This event is open to students, parents, and educators.

Our Service Academy Day is an event geared toward students, giving them the opportunity to meet current service academy students, Congressional District representatives involved in the nomination process, and service academy officials. Representatives from the United States Air Force Academy, the United States Military Academy, the United States Naval Academy, the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and the United States Coast Guard Academy will deliver brief presentations and answer questions.

Please contact [email protected] or (323) 651‑1040 with any questions. We encourage students, parents, and teachers who are interested in attending RSVP here as soon as possible.

SOUTHBAY COLLEGE FAIR

E-BIKE REMINDERS

This is a friendly reminder that all students who wish to ride and park their e-bike on campus are required to complete an approved e-bike safety education course. This initiative is part of RBUSD’s ongoing commitment to ensuring the safety of all students, pedestrians, and motorists in our community. Upon course completion students may pick up stickers at the front reception with Jeannine Sanchez.

MEAL APPLICATION

For the 2025-26 school year, RBUSD will participate in California's Universal Meals Program for all school children. Throughout the upcoming school year, each student is eligible to receive one free breakfast and one free lunch each day at their school. Through the Universal Meals Program, applying for free and reduced-price meal benefits is not required, but is strongly encouraged. Completing a meal application will provide additional funding for the district and may provide other household benefits including summer EBT funds, qualification for ELOP, exam and application fee waivers and other discounted costs.
