Open to RUHS 11th and 12th Students to attend:
- You MUST bring your signed "College Knowledge" ticket to attend a college presentation.
- Tickets are available in the Nest.
- The teacher from the class that you will be missing must approve your visit to the Nest 1-2 days in advance, by signing the ticket.
- All students in attendance will return to class with the original ticket signed by someone in the Nest (including time returned to class).
Attending these college presentations offers a valuable opportunity to learn about the admission process directly from the experts—many of whom are application readers for our region.
We encourage you to file FAFSA as soon as possible. FAFSA is required to qualify for the Cal Grant, Federal Grant, and El Camino College South Bay Promise tuition program.

Many private colleges require students to submit the CSS Profile, which, in addition to the FAFSA, is used to qualify students for additional scholarships and aid. Students will need to check to see if the colleges they are applying to require the CSS Profile.
Once you have submitted the FAFSA and CSS Profile (if applicable), you will have completed the largest source of aid to make your student’s college experience affordable.
THE SENIOR YEAR
LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION
Many private colleges allow applicants to submit up to two letters of recommendation in addition to the school counselor’s evaluation. If you plan to complete a Sea Hawk Scholarship Portfolio (due in February), you’ll also need one letter of recommendation from a teacher.
At RUHS, we’ve introduced a new process to help your teachers write stronger, more personalized letters on your behalf. First, ask your teacher in person if they would be willing to write a letter of recommendation for you. After they agree, complete the Letter of Recommendation Questionnaire and submit it through the designated Google Form. This information will help your teacher write a strong, personalized letter on your behalf.
NAVIANCE
Naviance is a college and career planning tool used at RUHS to support students throughout the college application process. One of its key features is the ability to send official transcripts directly to colleges and universities. Naviance can also be linked to your Common App account, allowing important documents like transcripts and letters of recommendation to be sent seamlessly to Common App schools.
This fall, Nest counselors will be visiting Government/Economics classrooms to guide students through Naviance and ensure you know how to use it effectively for your college applications.
